Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut called it “hypocrisy” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Centre’s “Team India” approach amid the West Asia crisis.

The remarks came after the Prime Minister chaired a meeting with Chief Ministers to review preparedness in view of the evolving situation, asserting that the country would overcome the crisis by working together as “Team India.”

“Who is part of Team India? It is a national idea, but does the Prime Minister truly think of the nation? There is no team spirit even within his own party. He was not present at the all-party meeting. At a time of crisis, all parties came
together and extended support to the Centre, yet this ‘Team India’ narrative is being used hypocritically,” Raut said.

Raut questioned the Centre’s intent, highlighting the Prime Minister’s absence from the all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

He added that the leader of “Team India” must ensure a parliamentary discussion on the crisis and respond to questions raised by members.

Raut also called for the appointment of a Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. Raut stated, “A genuine Team Maharashtra should be formed with participation from the principal Opposition party. A Leader of Opposition must be appointed through a process initiated by the Chief Minister,” he said.

However, the all-party meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Parliament, was convened to deliberate on the diplomatic, economic and strategic implications of the Iran–Israel–US conflict. During the discussion, Opposition leaders expressed concerns over reports suggesting Pakistan’s role as a mediator in communications between Iran and the United States.
